20 roads will be laid at a cost of ₹223 crore in Andhra Pradesh, says Union Minister
The Central government has sanctioned ₹223.65 crore to Andhra Pradesh for the development of road network under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) in the last eight months, Union Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar has said.
Addressing the media in Guntur district on Saturday, Mr. Chandra Sekhar, along with MLAs from the district, said that all these schemes would be undertaken with a cost-sharing ratio of 60:40 between the Centre and the State.
The Union Minister said that works worth ₹143.24 crore were sanctioned to Guntur district alone, while the rest of the State got ₹80.41 crore for road projects proposed.
For laying 20 roads on a stretch of 139 km in the State, the government has sanctioned ₹123.46 crore. Of the total, the Central government sanctioned ₹74 crore while the State government contributes ₹49.3 crore.
There are four more bridges proposed in the State with an estimated cost of ₹100 crore. For the construction of these bridges, the Central government sanctioned ₹29 crore, while the rest would be borne by the State government.
When it comes to Guntur district alone, the government is undertaking 12 road projects on a stretch of 78.51 km and sanctioned about ₹90 crore. Of it, the Central government’s share was estimated as ₹53.5 crore, while the rest would be contributed by the State, he said.
