Thomas Jefferson's wife died at only 33. He promised her he wouldn't remarry, and kept that promise his entire life. He kept a lock of her hair inside a watch key he used each day to wind his pocket watch. When he died, he was found wearing a gold locket with a lock of her hair, 44 years later.
