Kinda wild how ebikes have turned the trails into CC golf courses. A bunch of beer bellies putting around on $10,000 bikes talking about the newest and most expensive gear. This is not a complaint, just an observation. I’m sure the money being injected into the sport benefits us all.

This sparked more convo than I thought it would. Reading some of the comments I can see how the post comes across as smug when it really was just a casual, silly observation. My bad. I got my first MTB in '91, a steel rigid Paramount. I covered it in Fugazi, Minor Threat and Ramones stickers. I worked in a shop and the guys I rode with all came from BMX. And boy did we talk shit on suspension forks. And boy did we laugh at the mid life crisis dudes who bought $5k Trek Y bikes and brought scales in to weigh Ti axel pedals before buying. (we were young) I'm now a lot closer to 50 than 40 and I'm closer to dad bod than Marvel bod. I still ride a modern steel HT and had Fugazi playing when I pulled up to the trails today. Never once used Strava, never won a race. The only difference I think between the old dudes with cash back then and now was the guys back then didn't actually ride, they mostly hung out in the parking lot talking grams. The ebikes actually have them on the trail. And like I said above, not a complaint. Did not affect my ride in any way. And I think a lot of our new trails in the area are because of them. And for those who ebikes have opened a door that was closed to to physical limitations, I'm truly glad to share the trail. And for those who got so bent over a rambling from a stranger online...to quote the great Lloyd Dobler - "you must chill!" If you're a total bad ass using your moped to smoke the trails for fun, why would you think I was talking about you? ;)
