Rain, Dust Storm Likely In Delhi Today; Severe Heatwave In Rajasthan As Temperature Crosses 45°C

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a partly cloudy sky over parts of Delhi on Saturday, along with light rain and thunderstorms. This came after rains lashed parts of the national capital on Friday evening, while dust storms, lightning and gusts hit parts of the NCR region, including Noida and Ghaziabad.
“The sky will be partly cloudy, becoming generally cloudy by evening, with very light rain or drizzle expected, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and dust storms, along with sustained surface winds reaching speeds of 40–50 km/h and gusts up to 60 km/h," wrote the IMD in its Saturday bulletin.

Rain and gusty winds brought some relief from the heat in Delhi yesterday. The national capital recorded a maximum temperature of 41 degrees Celsius, which is 4.2 degrees above normal. The minimum temperature was 25.6 degrees Celsius.
“A fresh cloud cluster has entered Delhi, causing very light to light rainfall and gusty winds of 30 to 40 kmph. It is likely to move across the city with similar intensity," the weather department said. Data showed Narela, Pitampura and Mayur Vihar recording 0.5 mm of rainfall.
The temperature fell from 36 degrees Celsius to 27 degrees Celsius in Pusa, Pitampura and Mayur Vihar recording a drop from 37 degrees Celsius to 27 degrees Celsius. Humidity levels fluctuated between 57% and 35%. Meanwhile, the air quality at 4 pm on Friday was recorded in the “poor" category, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) reading of 219.
Mercury Crosses 45 In Rajasthan, Heat Wave Alert In Five Districts
Meanwhile, Rajasthan continued to experience sweltering heat as the maximum temperature crossed 45 degrees Celsius in several parts of the state. However, the meteorological department predicted a possibility of strong winds and dust storms from Saturday, bringing some relief from the heat.
According to the Meteorological Department, the weather remained dry in the state on Friday. Due to this, many areas in the state reported heatwave to severe heatwave conditions. Talking about temperatures, the highest maximum temperatures in the state were recorded in Sri Ganganagar and Churu, both at 45.4°C.
The mercury touched 45.2 degrees Celsius in Chittorgarh, 45.1 degrees Celsius in Vanasthali and Kota, 44.9 degrees Celsius in Pilani, 44.4 degrees Celsius in Barmer, 43.5 degrees Celsius in Jaisalmer, 42.6 degrees Celsius in Sangaria and 42.5 degrees Celsius in Fatehpur.
The Meteorological Department and the Health Department have issued alerts and guidelines for protection against heat waves in at least five districts.
Over the next 48 hours, some parts of the Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions are likely to experience strong winds with dust storms, blowing at speeds of 30–40 km/h. After that, a drop of 2 to 4 degrees in both maximum and minimum temperatures is expected, and heatwave conditions may persist in isolated areas of the Jodhpur, Bikaner, and Kota divisions.
