‘Announcement in next 2 days’: Trump on nuclear talks with Iran
US President Donald Trump on Sunday said that American negotiators had a “very good” talk with an Iranian delegation over the weekend as he indicated there was progress with Iran on nuclear talks and hinted that an announcement is possible in the “next two days”.
Trump was visibly more upbeat than the mediator Oman, who is leading mediation talks between US and Iran, as Oman said “some but not conclusive” progress have been made in the fifth rounds of negotiations held in Rome.
“I think we could have some good news on the Iran front. We’ve had some very, very good talks with Iran. And I don’t know if I’ll be telling you anything good or bad over the next two days, but I have a feeling I might be telling you something good,” Trump told reporters in New Jersey.
Set to travel to Rome for 5th round of indirect talks with the United States.
Figuring out the path to a deal is not rocket science:
Zero nuclear weapons = we DO have a deal.
Zero enrichment = we do NOT have a deal.Time to decide…

Trump claimed that serious progress has been made in talks with Iran about its nuclear programme but refrained from elaborating on it. The US delegation in Rome is being led by Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff and Michael Anton, the State Department’s policy planning director.
The United States and Iran have been discussing how to curb Iran’s ongoing nuclear program in exchange for America revoking some economic sanctions imposed on the Islamic Republic.
However, both Washington and Tehran have taken tough stances in public over the nuclear programme but it is the mediator Oman which made several proposals during the talks that has become crucial in continuing with negotiations in the fifth round.
President Trump wants to curtail Iran from being able to manufacture nuclear weapons that could trigger a regional nuclear arms race.
After the fourth round of talks, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi had said “We have just completed one of the most professional rounds of talks…We firmly stated Iran’s position…The fact that we are now on a reasonable path, in my view, is itself a sign of progress,” Reuters reported.
