Donald Trump gave a Republican senator and others a tour of the room where President Bill Clinton and intern Monica Lewinsky carried out their affair ― and it has been converted into a swag suite full of MAGA hats and shirts, according to an NBC News report Wednesday.
The unnamed senator told the network that Trump invited him to the White House for a bill signing and guided him and others to what the president called “the Monica Lewinsky Room.”
Now it’s full of “Make America Great Again” merch in a space that a senior White House official said was akin to a “beautifully organized” gift shop, NBC wrote.
“He does what he wants, and they [Trump aides] let him do it,” the senator said.
The anecdote was one of many in an article detailing Trump’s “freewheeling” West Wing during his second term.
The lead item described Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg walking in on an Oval Office meeting of military leaders who were discussing a new stealth fighter jet. He was asked to leave over concerns about his security clearance, sources told the network.
Lewinsky, now a podcaster, has accused Clinton of abusing his power but has also jabbed at Trump over his attitude toward women.
