Commission disburses the second payment of €115.5 million to Ireland under the Recovery and Resilience Facility
The European Commission has disbursed €115.5 million in grants to Ireland as its second instalment under the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF).
On 23 December 2024, Ireland submitted its second payment request under the RRF to the Commission.
The request covers 17 milestones and targets related to six reforms and five investments. They cover different areas: reducing emissions from entreprises, promoting sustainable transport options, implementing carbon taxation, supporting digitalization in schools, businesses and public administration, enhancing Information and Communication Technology skills, and addressing issues related to healthcare, pensions and housing.
These reforms and investments will drive positive change for citizens and businesses in Ireland.
On 27 May 2025, the Commission adopted a positive preliminary assessment of Ireland's second payment request. Following the favorable opinion of the Economic and Financial Committee of the Council, the Commission was able to proceed with a final decision on disbursing the funds.
Ireland's overall Recovery and Resilience Plan is financed by €1.15 billion in grants. This payment request will bring the funds paid out to Ireland to 38% of all the funds in the Irish plan, with 48% of all the milestones and targets in the plan fulfilled.
As for all Member States, payments to Ireland under the RRF are performance-based and depend on its implementation of the recovery and resilience plan.
