President Donald Trump announced his disapproval of the Iranian response to a peace plan as the United States and the Islamic Republic continue negotiations to seek a permanent end to the weeks-long conflict.
“I have just read the response from Iran’s so-called ‘Representatives.’ I don’t like it — TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!” the president posted to Truth Social without further detail.

In a short Sunday phone call with Axios, Trump called the letter “inappropriate.”
“I don’t like their letter. It’s inappropriate. I don’t like their response,” he said.
Earlier on Sunday, Trump criticized Iran for “playing games with the United States, and the rest of the world, for 47 years.”
He bashed former President Barack Obama for his handling of Iran, noting the exorbitant amount of money provided to the Middle Eastern nation.
“It was so much money that when it arrived, the Iranian Thugs had no idea what to do with it. They had never seen money like this, and never will again,” Trump said. “They finally found the greatest SUCKER of them all, in the form of a weak and stupid American President. He was a disaster as our ‘Leader,’ but not as bad as Sleepy Joe Biden!”
“For 47 years the Iranians have been ‘tapping’ us along, keeping us waiting, killing our people with their roadside bombs, destroying protests, and recently wiping out 42,000 innocent, unarmed protestors, and laughing at our now GREAT AGAIN Country. They will be laughing no longer!” he continued.

A fragile ceasefire between the two nations has held since early April as negotiators have struggled to reach a deal. Key sticking points reportedly include the future of Iran’s nuclear program and the administration of the Strait of Hormuz, a key waterway through which about a fifth of the world’s oil and liquefied natural gas transits.
Trump and administration officials have repeatedly emphasized that the U.S. remains ready to reengage in combat operations should negotiators fail to reach a deal.
