Trump claims 'fantastic trade deals' as summit with China's Xi wraps up

U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping wrapped up a final day of talks in Beijing on Friday, as Trump touted what he portrayed as economic wins at a summit that was overshadowed by Xi’s warning of the possibility of conflict over Taiwan.
Trump had aimed to reach agreements in the aviation, agriculture and artificial intelligence sectors, but also signaled his hopes of making progress in the geopolitical arena — including securing a commitment from Beijing to urge Iran to make a deal with the U.S. on ending the war in the Middle Eastern country.
“We’ve made some fantastic trade deals, great for both countries,” Trump said, seated next to Xi during talks over tea and lunch at Zhongnanhai, the tightly guarded headquarters in Beijing of China’s ruling Communist Party and residence of its top leaders.
