This is all because North Carolina passed a law in 2012 that allows for coyotes to be hunted at night. Red wolves get caught in the cross hairs because some people can’t tell them apart from coyotes and doing it at night is even harder. 120 wolf red wolves were living in North Carolina in 2013 now there are only 7. Unless that law is repealed, actions are taken to teach hunters more about red wolves, how to identify them, and the punishment for killing one is increased I’m afraid this won’t help much.
