Yes, China has the largest number of GHG emitted per year, but they also have by far the most people. Per capita emissions might be a more helpful framework for thinking about these things in some ways (though both are important). Also considering the fact that a good amount of China’s emissions go towards creating things for people like you and me to buy. If the west was buying less, China would be polluting less. I’m saying all this because without knowledge of what the actual problem is, we won’t know what policies to support that will actually solve it.
None of this is to suggest China is all good. They are actively committing genocide.
