House came alive when I was home alone....
When I was in 6th grade, my family was going through tough times. My mom was in jail, my dad couldn't work because he was disabled and wheelchair bound (rip I miss you dad) and we couldn't afford to pay the electric bill so it was off.
One morning at maybe 5am, my dad was getting ready to go to dialysis, as he did every week. I made him breakfast under lantern light. (I had to grow up fast. Had no choice but to learn these things early) I remember his face when he saw me cooking for him. Proud and sad at the same time. He didnt like the way things were going. "Thank you son... I love you I hope you know that." He ate and the bus came to pick him up. Once he left thats when the shit hit the fan.
I was home alone. I went to lay down on the couch to get some sleep. I wasnt going to my room because it was pitch black and I was scared. Things have happened in the house before, but never how it was about to.
When I laid down, I heard footsteps behind me. Not one, but multiple. Not just near me, but in the entire house it seemed. The house came alive but it was dead quiet when my dad was still there. Doors squeaking. Floors creeking. It felt as though something was trying to get my attention. Aggressively. It got louder and more intense as time went by. I shut my eyes tight trying to lay as still as possible. After maybe 30 minutes of this, I built up enough courage to open my eyes. I looked at the wall and saw shadows blacker than the pitch black living room "dancing" around me. Moving wildly and fast.
To give you more of an idea of what I mean by dancing, Have you ever seen your own shadow flicker in candle light? Thats what they were doing. Only there was no candle light. Just darkness. I shut my eyes again and waited for sunrise. It never stopped. As soon as the sun came up, I ran out of the house and went to my friends house who lived a few blocks away.
I wish this was just a story but it really happened. Even right now as I type this I get tears in my eyes. The scariest moment of my life for sure.
