Quack, aides held for murder of elderly man in Delhi’s Sarai Rohilla

The police on Tuesday arrested a quack and his two accomplices in connection with the murder of an elderly man who ran a medical equipment store at a local shopping complex in Sarai Rohilla, North West Delhi on February 1.
The men, after the murder, allegedly stole an ultrasound machine, a laptop, and other valuables from the office of the deceased, Ranbir Singh, the Delhi Police said.
Singh was found lying in a pool of blood at Vivekanandpuri locality on February 1, officers at the Sarai Rohilla police station said. He was declared dead at Hindu Rao Hospital.
The police arrested the main accused — Mohammad Pravez Alam, 27, — and his aides, Mohammad Nasir, 30, and Nikhil Kumar, 19, following a raid at Bhagra in Muzaffarnagar, said Raja Banthia, Deputy Commissioner of Police, North.
“The main accused, Alam, is a quack who needed an Ultrasound machine with accessories for his clinic. He found the victim from the internet and tried to purchase the machine from him eight months ago, but the deal fell through,” the DCP said.
Alam, along with Nasir and Nikhil Kumar, who were working as ward boys in local clinics, hatched a plan to steal the machines and the accessories, he added.
On the day of the incident, the accused visited Singh’s office under the pretense of negotiation, overpowered him, injected him with an intoxicating substance, and fled with the stolen items, the police said.

A police team was constituted, which analysed over 300 CCTV footage and tracked the suspects’ movements, their car registration number, and Call Detail Records.
The three men have been booked for murder, robbery, and other relevant sections under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
