VMC officials told to ready plan to deal with water crisis in summer

Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) Commissioner H.M. Dhyanachandra, at a review meeting with the engineering staff on Wednesday, discussed the action plan to ensure that the city does not face any water crisis in the summer.
At the VMC’s main office in the city, Mr. Dhyanachandra, taking into account last year’s water scarcity issues, instructed the officials to plan in advance and ensure that uninterrupted drinking water was supplied to citizens during the summer season, especially those living in the hilly areas.
He asked the officials to arrange vehicles and water tankers to address any water shortage.
A comprehensive plan should be in place to ensure the smooth functioning of ongoing projects, park maintenance, he said, adding that all borewells should be brought into operation.
Assistant engineers were instructed to interact with the residents, understand their needs, identify their difficulties, and formulate a plan to resolve the concerns.
They were also asked to conduct field inspections across the city to identify and fix any drainage water leakages and come up with a plan to resolve other problems identified during inspections.
The meeting was attended by Superintending Engineers P. Satyanarayana and P. Satyakumari, along with executive engineers, deputy executive engineers, and assistant engineers.
