Good Bad Ugly box office collection day 6: Ajith Kumar’s film sees steep fall amid Ilaiyaraaja controversy, mints Rs 107.80 cr

After entering the Rs 100 crore club within just five days of release, the Ajith Kumar-starrer Good Bad Ugly has seen a steep fall in its collection on Tuesday. According to Sacnilk, the film witnessed a more than 32 percent drop in its collection on Tuesday, raking in Rs 6.50 crore. This has brought the film’s total domestic collection to Rs 107.80 crore.
Good Bad Ugly had an overall 29.21 percent Tamil occupancy and 12.26 percent Telugu occupancy. The film started its box office journey by minting Rs 29.25 crore on Thursday. Though it saw a 48 percent fall in its collection on Friday, minting Rs 15 crore, it recovered over the weekend and saw a 31 percent increase in its collection. It earned Rs 19.75 crore and Rs 22.3 crore on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. Hit by the weekday slump, the film again saw a 32 percent fall on Monday, minting Rs 15 crore. This was followed by a further fall on Tuesday.
The success of Ajith’s film can also be measured by the fact that while Good Bad Ugly managed to cross the Rs 100 crore mark within just five days of release, Salman Khan’s Sikandar took 15 days to achieve the same feat. Sunny Deol’s Jaat, which released on the same day as Ajith’s film, has minted Rs 53.50 crore till date in India. In terms of worldwide collection, till Monday, the film had earned Rs 171.5 crore worldwide, which included Rs 101.3 crore India net and Rs 52.15 crore overseas.
However, Ajith’s film ran into controversy after veteran composer Ilaiyaraaja took legal action for the alleged unauthorised use of his music in the film. He had demanded Rs 5 crore in compensation from the producers. However, the makers have clarified that they took a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the respective music labels before including the said tracks in the film.
