CBSE Class 12 results: Chandigarh Mayor honours acid attack survivor Kafi who topped her school again
Praising her “resilience and determination”, while assuring her of all possible support in her future pursuits, Chandigarh Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla on Thursday honoured Kafi, an acid attack survivor, who secured 95.6 per cent in the CBSE Class 12 exams.
Kafi, a student of the Blind School in Sector 26, Chandigarh, topped her school despite the trauma she faced at just three years of age. The 17-year-old student topped her school in 2023 too by scoring 95.2 per cent in CBSE Class 10 examination.
Kafi was just three when three men threw acid on her as she was playing Holi in 2011.
The brutal attack left her with severe facial and arm injuries and permanently blinded her. Despite her disability, Kafi emerged as a beacon of hope and strength.
Mayor Babla, lauded her achievement, calling it “a story of unmatched courage and perseverance”.
Kafi now aims to pursue Political Science at Delhi University and aspires to become an IAS officer.
Her father, a Group D employee at the Mini Secretariat in Chandigarh, expressed pride in his daughter’s accomplishments, noting that she has consistently faced life’s challenges with unwavering grit.
