Reality is Glitching? Strange Encounter at Foggy Bottom Metro
[unable to retrieve full-text content]
Something really odd happened to me during my commute today and I wanted to see if anyone else has ever experienced anything similar. For context, I'm a Sri Lankan American and recently started a new job in DC, so I've been getting familiar with the Metro. Today, I was on the escalator at Foggy Bottom, and I heard this person nearby calling out country names in a really bizarre, almost rhythmic pattern. It went something like: "America," then a random country name. Then, as I was leaving the subway and hitting the street, I noticed a white woman, a well-dressed Black man, and a young girl wearing a hijab all pass me or were waiting to cross the road. What made it feel even stranger was that the same voice I heard on the escalator then said, in the order I visually processed these people: "America Pakistan," then "America America," then "America Jamaica," and finally, "America, Sri Lanka." It was just... weird. The order the countries were called out seemed to loosely correspond to the order of the people I saw right after leaving the station (Hijab girl, white lady, Black man, then me). It could be absolute coincidence but I am curious to hear your comments.
