Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello turned up the volume of protest against President Donald Trump with a politically charged set at the Boston Calling 2025 music festival.
Performing at the Harvard University Athletic Complex on Sunday, Morello appeared in front of a digital backdrop that, at one point, displayed pins and graphics spelling out “Fuck Trump.”
He also flipped his guitar to reveal a taped message on the back reading: “FUCK I.C.E.”

When introducing a cover of Bruce Springsteen’s “The Ghost of Tom Joad,” Morello slammed Trump’s escalating attacks on The Boss for daring to criticize his administration.
“Bruce is going after Trump because Bruce, his whole life, he’s been about truth, justice, democracy, equality,” Morello told the crowd. “And Trump is mad at him because Bruce draws a bigger audience.”
“Fuck that guy,” he added.
And Morello, a longtime critic of Trump and his MAGA sycophants, also name-checked Harvard University, where he studied, and which is under increasing attack from the president, who is seeking to pull its public funding and ban international students from enrolling.
He praised the school’s free online course, which, as reported by Boston.com, teaches “how to recognize a dictatorship takeover of your country.”
