The health unit notes that exposure to the virus may have been possible at the following days, times, and locations:
- TK Liquidation, 366 Grand River Ave., Brantford on Friday, May 23 from 3 to 5 p.m.
- Conklin Medical Centre, 360 Conklin Rd., Unit 1, Brantford on Saturday, May 24 from 2:20 to 5 p.m.
- Brantford General Hospital Emergency Department, 200 Terrace Hill St., Brantford on Sunday, May 25 from 5:09 to 10:22 p.m.
Anyone born in or after 1970 who has not had a previous measles infection and who has not received two doses of a measles-containing vaccine is at risk of infection if exposed to the measles virus.
GEPH notes that the administration of a MMR vaccine within 72 hours of exposure may reduce the risk of infection. Within six days of exposure, infants, pregnant or immunocompromised individuals may be eligible to receive immunoglobulin, which may prevent or reduce the severity of infection.
Anyone who has been exposed to the measles virus at the above-mentioned locations or elsewhere in the community is urged to fill out a measles exposure form at geph.ca/measlesform.
By doing so, the health unit is able to complete a risk assessment and recommend next steps to potentially reduce the chance of infection or limit further spread of the virus.
