A speeding car ran over police personnel during a late-night vehicle check in Patna, killing female constable Komal and injuring three others.

A speeding car ran over police personnel during a late-night vehicle check in Patna, killing one female constable and injuring three others.

A horrific video of the incident showed police personnel being run over by the car at around 12:30 AM.

While police officers were conducting routine vehicle checks, they signalled a car to stop. Initially, the vehicle halted, but then suddenly accelerated at high speed, attempting to run over the officers.

Several policemen were hit and thrown onto the road, covered in blood. Bystanders at the scene rescued the injured officers and rushed them to the hospital.

Speaking about the incident, SSP Avkash Kumar said, “Night checking was underway. A car suddenly rammed into police personnel during the checking. Two people from the vehicle have been taken into custody. Three policemen were injured, some seriously."

The incident occurred on Atal Path in Patna, where the car hit the officers at a speed of approximately 90 km/h. The force of the impact caused the policemen to be thrown several meters away.

The injured officers were rushed to the nearest hospital after the incident.

Among the four injured police personnel, female constable Komal — a resident of Nalanda — succumbed to her injuries during treatment.

Police have seized two four-wheelers and arrested two suspects. Raids are ongoing to track down the absconding driver responsible for the hit-and-run.
