Chigasaki pair suspected of burying corpse of roommate under floor
KANAGAWA (TR) – Kanagawa Prefectural Police have arrested a man and a woman who are suspected of burying the corpse of their male roommate under the floorboards of their home in Chigasaki City, reports Fuji News Network (Aug. 10).
Police have not yet revealed whether Ryo Ogura, 44, and Yui Okayasu, 38, both of no known occupation, admit to allegations of abandoning a corpse.
On August 8, investigators working off a tip entered the residence and found the partially skeletal body under the floorboards.
According to police, the body is believed to be that of a male construction worker, aged in his 50s, who also lived in the residence and died after late April of last year.

Ogura and Okayasu are suspected of conspiring to abandon the body by burying it under the floorboards at the home around early May last year.
During voluntary questioning prior to their arrests, the suspects generally acknowledged that the body was that of the roommate. One of the two said, “I buried a man’s body under the floorboards.”
In August of last year, a colleague of the roommate’s reported to the Chigasaki Police Station that he had been missing since around May. The two suspects emerged as suspects due to their friendship with the man.
