Most vector graphics editors will allow you to export SVG code, for example Adobe Illustrator, Sketch (my recent favourite) or if you want open-source, Inkscape is quite popular. In addition, it doesn’t hurt to get familiar with SVG, it is a subset of XML and should be familiar if you know HTML. This was a neat free resource I found some time ago: SVG Pocket Guide
