| She was a central figure in the Black Power Movement and the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960’s and 1970’s. She is a prison abolitionist. She is a Marxist-Leninist. She is an advocate for the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanction Movement against israel. She once represented herself despite not having a law degree or being licensed to practice in a criminal trial that had her charged with giving a shotgun to individuals who would kidnap a judge in California in an effort to free George Jackson. She was acquitted of all charges by a jury of her peers.
