Twins part ways with team president two weeks before spring training
The Minnesota Twins abruptly fired their team president just two weeks before the team is due to report to spring training.
The Twins announced Friday that Derek Falvey, who has led baseball operations since October 2016, is departing the team.
In a statement, the Twins asserted that the two sides had “mutually agreed to part ways.”
“Over the past several weeks, Derek and I had thoughtful and candid conversations about leadership, structure, and the future of the club,” Twins executive chair Tom Pohlad said in his own statement. “We reached a shared understanding that the needs of the organization are evolving and that a leadership transition is the best way to move forward.”
