South Korea punches ticket to World Baseball Classic quarterfinals

South Korea was winning on the scoreboard late in its game against Australia but trailing on the calculator and three outs away from being eliminated from the World Baseball Classic despite holding a four-run lead.
When all the numbers were finally counted, a team of players who had been celebrating big hits by spreading their arms to mimic the wings of an airplane finally booked a flight to Miami.
After a critical error by Australia allowed South Korea to put a runner on third, Ahn Hyun-min drove in a run with a sacrifice fly that helped give South Korea a 7-2 win over Australia at Tokyo Dome. That margin of victory was large enough for the team to come out on top of a three-way tiebreaker and advance to the quarterfinal round in the United States.
