Iran and Israel trade strikes on energy facilities in worsening war

Iran and Israel traded strikes on key energy facilities in the Middle East, complicating U.S. efforts to curb turmoil in markets as the conflict stretched toward three weeks.
Qatar’s Ras Laffan Industrial City — the complex that houses the world’s largest liquefied natural gas export plant — suffered "extensive damage” after an Iranian attack, state-owned QatarEnergy said, without providing more details.
The strike followed a warning from Tehran hours earlier that a number of energy sites in Gulf countries would be considered "legitimate targets” after Israel attacked a key gas field in Iran. Facilities in Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates were on a list of sites at risk of Iranian airstrikes, the semi-official Tasnim news agency reported on Wednesday.
