Tropical Storm Jangmi continues its approach

Tropical Storm Jangmi, known in Japan as taifū No. 6, is expected to bring heavy rain and strong winds across a swath of the country from Tuesday to Wednesday.
As of 7.45 a.m. Tuesday, the storm was located about 90 kilometers west-northwest of the city of Amami, in Kagoshima Prefecture, and moving north-northeast at a speed of 25 kilometers per hour with a central pressure of 975 hectopascals. It was packing, with sustained winds near the center of up to 30 meters per second and gusts up to 40 meters per second.
The storm is expected to move northeast and approach the Kyushu, Shikoku, Kinki, Tokai and Kanto-Koshin regions through Wednesday, according to the Meteorological Agency.
