Eleven people were killed in a skydiving plane crash in eastern France, authorities reported.
The crash occurred in Tomblaine on Sunday, with passengers reportedly including five instructors and five students, as well as the pilot.
France’s Minister of Transport Philippe Tabarot visited the crash site, along with Minister of the Interior Laurent Nuñez.
“Terrible tragedy in Meurthe-et-Moselle, where a plane carrying participants in a skydiving activity crashed near Tomblaine. The human toll is particularly heavy: 11 people lost their lives. I extend my most sincere condolences to their loved ones,” Tabarot posted to X in French.
Yves Séguy, the prefect of the Meurthe-et-Moselle region, reportedly said that no bystanders were injured. He told BFMTV that the plane crashed “almost vertically” close to a housing development.
Two weeks ago, another skydiving plane crashed in Butler Missouri, on June 14th, killing 12 individuals, including the pilot.
