Trump: U.S. will ‘decimate and destroy’ Iran with 1,000 missiles if it carries out an assassination plot

President Donald Trump threatened to “decimate and destroy” all of Iran if the country’s Islamic regime were to assassinate him as its new supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, promised “revenge” after his father, former Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s death.
On Friday night, Trump wrote on Truth Social, “1000 Missiles are Locked and Loaded and aimed at the Islamic Republic of Iran, with thousands of more to immediately follow, should the Iranian Government act on its threat, pronounced in many corners of the Globe, to assassinate, or attempt to assassinate, the sitting President of the United States of America, in this case, ME!”
“Orders have already been given, and the U.S. Military is ready, willing, and able, for a one year period of time, subject to extension, to completely decimate and destroy all areas of Iran – PRAISE BE TO ALLAH!” Trump continued with a satirical nod to the Islamic leaders’ god.
Earlier in the day, Trump told the New York Post that he has “left instructions” ordering the U.S. military “to just literally bomb them at levels that they’ve never seen before” if Iran were to carry out an assassination plot against him.
He also echoed comments he made during the NATO summit earlier in the week that he was at the top of the regime’s “list,” confirming a threat to his life.
“They want to take out the U.S. leader, me,” Trump told reporters on Wednesday. “I’m on every list. I saw this morning, I’m on every single one of their lists. And so far, I guess I’ve been a little bit lucky, but that maybe doesn’t last very long.”
Several disturbing signs were seen during the days-long funeral for the late supreme leader of Iran, which began just before the Independence Day holiday weekend, explicitly calling for the president’s death.
Many posters, banners and placards showed images of bullets or the crosshairs of a gun scope over his face. Some read, in English, “Kill Trump,” while others said, “There will be blood.”
Reports circulated this week that Israeli intelligence flagged an Iranian plot to kill the U.S. president. Trump denied that Israel found a new threat, but emphasized that he had long been a target of the regime.
Iran’s animosity against Trump can be traced back to his first administration, in which he authorized an operation that eliminated Iranian General Qasem Soleimani.
Meanwhile, the younger Khamenei, who has not been seen since the beginning of the conflict in late February, including at his father’s funeral, posted an ominous, multi-part statement to his X account on Saturday that his “nation seeks to take revenge for the blood” of his father.
“We pledge to avenge your pure blood and the blood of all the martyrs of these two [recent] wars by taking revenge against the criminal, disgraceful murderers,” Khamenei wrote. “This vengeance is what our nation is demanding, and this must definitely be done.”
The religious leader’s statement continued, “The criminal, disgraceful murderers of the martyred Leader, whose names are fully documented from the highest to the lowest ranks, will carry their dream of a peaceful death in bed to the grave.”
