Houston Astros projected to replace Isaac Paredes with young third baseman

The 2025 MLB Draft is about three weeks away and teams are starting to think of which young stars to draft into their farm system that can change their respective franchises.
In the meantime, mock drafts are being drafted up as fans look to see who could change their teams for the better.
In ESPN’s latest MLB mock draft, Kiley McDaniel projected the Houston Astros to take Xavier Neyens with the No. 21 overall pick in the 2025 MLB Draft. Neyens is a third baseman out of Mount Vernon High School in Washington.
Neyens committed to Oregon State in August 2024, so it would be a while before he would join the Astros farm system and make his way up to Houston.
Neyens is the No. 19 overall prospect in the Top 150 players list. As a junior in 2024, he hit .455 with three home runs, 24 RBIs and 20 stolen bases. Neyens also bring experience on the mound as well. He went 8–0 with a 1.26 ERA and 60 strikeouts as a pitcher. He was named the Washington Gatorade Baseball Player of the Year.
“Houston has been tied to a number of the standout athletic testers in the prep class such as Neyens, Tate Southisene, Josh Hammond and Sean Gamble. I could also see this being a floor for power-oriented college bats such as LaViolette and Aloy, with some overlap between the Astros' targets and which player the Orioles take at No. 19,” McDaniel said.
Current Astros third baseman Isaac Paredes is in his fifth year in the big leagues at 26-years-old. By the time Neyens would make it to the majors, who knows if Paredes will be on the Astros roster or not, so Houston taking a promising infielder with their first pick could certainly be of help.
